“I would see a lot of fallen single gloves. I’d pick up them up, put them in a bag, take them home, and wash them at the laundromat. I did have standards though - I wouldn’t take anything super dirty. Some had some slight holes, but most were in pretty good shape. I tried to use good judgment too. I wouldn’t pick up anything off the sidewalk, especially if it looked like one that someone might come back for.
After washing them, I would take a photo, write the size, the brand, and any notable features, and post them on @theselonglostgloves, an Instagram account I made. If it was a really interesting glove I would take a video too, and put a lot of hashtags. The idea was, maybe if you lose your glove, you can find a suitable other. This might not be the exact same glove, but it could be a fine partner glove, you know? People will mismatch socks, why not gloves?
